8. CRUSING THE LYCIAN SHORE - 'LAND OF SAINTS AND HEROS', GOCEK TO KEMER VIA MYRA

Visits to St. Nicholas's Island, Kalkan, Kas, Simena, Kekova Island and Phaselis, with optional excursions to Patara and Xanthus, Myra and Arycanda. This is the most beautiful and dramatic part of the Turkish Riviera on the edge of historic Lycia. Well worth visiting are the ruins of the great Roman city of Patara and nearby Xanthus and Myra, the church of St. Nicholas and one of the finest Roman theatres and the wonderfully sited city of Arycanda high up in the hills. Visits are easily made to Turkish Simena and beautifully located Phaselis, near Mount Olympus.

Day 1	Afternoon embark 'Odysseus'. Overnight near Göcek.
Day 2	Cruise across the Bay of Fethiye. Overnight St. Nicholas's Island.
Day 3	Cruise down the mountainous coast past 'The 9 Mile Beach'. Optional excursion to the ancient cities of Patara and Xanthus. Overnight Kalkan.
Day 4	Cruise eastwards down to Kas and then to Kekova Island. Overnight Simena.
Day 5	Cruise north-eastwards to Andriace and Finike. Optional excursion to ancient Arycanda. Overnight Finike
Day 6	Cruise/sail across the Gulf of Finike past the great Chelidonian Cape to visit Phaselis where Alexander stayed. Overnight Phaeselis.
Day 7	Cruise northwards to Kemer. Overnight Kemer Marina.
Day 8	Morning disembark 'Odysseus'.

Optional Excursions:

Visit Xanthus and Patara - Lycian tombs, basilican church, Roman Street and two Roman theatres.
Visit Myra - early Lycian city and a Roman port, a fine theatre and St. Nicholas's Bishops Church.
