5. SAILING THE BAY OF GULLUK, TORBA TO TORBA, VIA IASSUS

The broad Bay of Gulluk is north of the Bodrum peninsula and easily accessed from Bodrum airport. The Bay is indented with several very interesting ancient sites easily accessible without long walks. It is an excellent area for sailing and is cooler than some other parts of the coast in July and August.

Day 1 Afternoon embark 'Odysseus'. Overnight Torba.
Day 2 Cruise along coast to Turkbuku. Relax, swim, kayak. Overnight Turkbuku.
Day 3 Sailing/cruising in the Bay of Gulluk. Overnight in quiet bay.
Day 4 Cruise to ancient Iasus. Visit Iasus site and walk to small Turkish town of Kuren. Optional excursion to Euromus. Overnight Iasus.
Day 5 Cruise west to seaside town of Altinkum. Optional visit to the temple at Didyma. Overnight Altinkum.
Day 6 Sail to charming fishing village of Gemusluk (ancient Myndus). Overnight Gemusluk.
Day 7 More sailing and relaxing or optional visit to Bodrum. Overnight Torba.
Day 8 Morning disembark 'Odysseus'.
Optional Excursions:
Visit Didyma - the largest classical temple anywhere.
Visit Euromus - Roman Temple
Visit Halicarnassus (ancient Bodrum) - Crusader Castle, Myndus Gate, Greek Theatre and Mausoleum.
