Istanbul to Adana by air then we visit Karatepe National Park and site of the Hittite capital, continuing to visit the Sokullu Mehmet Caravanserai designed by Sinan in 1574. On to Antioch and to visit the church where St. Peter held the first early masses and one of the finest collections of late Roman and Byzantine mosaics. Next day we visit the Yesemek open-air museum to see the 300 Hittite stones and statues in the fields, followed by Gazientep and the famous mosaics of Zeugma, Sanli Urfa, with a boat trip on the Euphrates, Rumkale, Suayip, Mardin’s Citadel and the Saffron Monastery, the walled city of Diyarbakir, the Behran Camii, Tatvan, volcanic Mount Nemrud and the Crater Lake then fly from Ankara to Istanbul.
